Life Story for Lester Gray
Lester G. "Jerry" Gray, age 79, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover. He was born on February 9, 1937 in Jefferson County, Indiana, the son of J. Clarence and Ida Lou (Davis) Gray.
Mr. Gray graduated from the former Deputy High School and retired in 1999 from the maintenance department of the Indiana-Kentucky Electric Corporation, Clifty Creek Plant, Madison. He was a member of River Valley Community Church, Madison, enjoyed visiting car shows and loved old cars, especially his Lincoln.
Survivors include his wife, the former Joyce D. Reece, to whom he was married on July 21, 1957 at the Kent Methodist Church Parsonage; one daughter, Kathi L. Scroggins of Hanover, Indiana; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald D. and Ronda Gray of Madison; one sister and brother-in-law, Doris E. and Larry Risk of Lake Placid, Florida; two brothers: Stanley F. Gray and Kay of Dupont, Indiana and James D. Gray and Carolyn of Hanover; five grandchildren: Brandon Scroggins and his wife, Cheryl, Tim Gray and his fiance, Kealyn, Amanda Scroggins and her husband, Roman Zhang, Aaron Gray and his fiance, Lacey and Leslie Kirby and her husband, Jared; five great grandchildren: Bailey, Chloe, Jayden, Dawson and Ellise; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pastor Brandon Scroggins and Pastor Shane W. Brunner will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Monday, May 30, 2016 at the River Valley Community Church, with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Friends and family may call at the River Valley Community Church from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, May 29, 2016 and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Monday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the River Valley Community Church Revive Youth Building Fund. Contribution envelopes are available at the church or Lytle Funeral Homes and Cremation Service.
