Obituary for Joseph Neal Jr.

Joseph Neal Jr.
Mr. Joseph T. Neal, Jr., age 83, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on May 26, 1932 in Madison, the son of Joseph T., Sr. and Nancy Oder Neal.

Mr. Neal served in the United States Army from December 1953 to December 1955 following the Korean Conflict. He worked as a welder for Rotary Lift in Madison for thirty-eight years, beginning in 1956 and retiring in 1994. Early in his life he worked in construction.

His memberships included the Hanover Baptist Church and Jefferson Post #9, American Legion, Madison. He was a former member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and dancing with his wife on Friday nights at the Madison Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include his wife, the former Georgene Higgins, to whom he was married on December 18, 2004 in Carrollton, Kentucky; one sister and brother-in-law, Glenna and Bud Sauley of Madison; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one step-daughter, Beth Craig Schmidt; and one brother, James R. Young, Sr.

The Reverend J.D. Traylor will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, where the Honor Guard from Jefferson Post #9, American Legion will conduct military graveside services.

Friends may call at Lytle Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 PM Sunday, August 30 and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Monday.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Contribution may be made at Lytle Funeral Chapel or online at
