Obituary for Hazel O'Neal (Braden)
Mrs. Hazel B. O’Neal, age 82, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison. Born April 13, 1931 in Nelson County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Harvey and Josie (Young) Braden.
Mrs. O’Neal attended Bullitt County Schools in Lebanon Junction, Kentucky. She worked for the former Conn Organ Company from 1960 to 1979, and then for the Elks and American Legion Post restaurants. Following that, she managed the Lanthier Winery on Main Street for several years.
Mrs. O’Neal was a fifty-one year member of the Women’s Auxiliary of American Legion Post#9. She enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include one son, Allen R. O’Neal of Madison; one brother, Harvey C. Braden of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; and one sister, Lula Sherrod of Lebanon Junction, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray A. “Digger” O’Neal on April 21, 1993, and to whom she was married on October 31, 1953 in Jeffersonville, Indiana; one brother, Walter H. Braden; and four sisters: Mattie Sieger, Maude Geoghegan, Margaret Sims and Lottie Cundiff.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel.
Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday.
The family requests memorial contribution s be made to the American Cancer Society. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
