Condolence From: Chris Ellis Burke
Condolence: My fondest memories of Donnie are from the summer he came to stay with my family in Santa Fe - we shared cheese burgers by the pool, riding horses, hacky sack on the plaza and all the wonderful music of that time. We had a common love of animals and the outdoors, and for that one magical summer I had a strong and handsome big brother. Vaya con Dios, Donnie.

Condolence From: Lou Ellis Brassington
Condolence: So many wonderful memories of growing up with Donnie and Gary . . .We had adventure after adventure, hours of playing in their backyard and our woods. I remember just being exhauasted after a day of playing army or Secret Service or the many scenarios we devised. With our heads together, we would write unbreakable codes, hide from the Gestapo, and run through the woods with abandon. We built innumerable hide-outs, corrals, bunk houses, and command centers. We re-enacted D-Day and Midway and Custer's Last Stand. Together we three were invincible and, even though their rough-and-tumble boy ways were foreign to my quiet nature, my memories of those times are the purest, happiest times I recall. Drinking from acorn lids, eating hickory nuts, catching lightning bugs, climbing the curved tree, drinking red Kool-Aid from canteens, getting scared out of our wits playing ghost in the graveyard after dark, having Uncle Don make up our hobo faces on that last Halloween . . . .I treasure each of those snap-shots in my mind, the clear, pure, halcyon times of blue skies and endless imagination. Wherever life took the three of us, we were a team on those long ago summer days when we were all so young.
